DIY Necklace Display
This is one of those DIY projects that just come together. Where you don't have solid instructions. Just a idea in your head. It was several years ago that I first created this, we had just moved into a new townhouse and space was a little limited. I needed something to hold my jewelry and YES, i have alot! So, I had to come up with something. We were in a situation with a new job, in a new town and I didn't want to spend money on a fancy jewelry organizer. I knew I wanted something where I could see everything I had because often my jewelry was all stuck in storage and I would forget to wear them. Out of sight, out of mind.
As I was unpacking my jewels from storage (btw, its all costume jewelry) I wondered how I could display my jewelry so that I could get more use. It could be like a piece of art. While rummaging thru our garage I came across some wooden shelves that I had gotten from my grandmother. The brackets that were on the shelves had a design with small holes. That is when the idea popped into my head. To use the shelving and get craft dowels to push thru the holes which would then hold my necklaces. Genius right!
Craft dowels can be found at any craft store and most crating section of stores like Walmart. They're very easy to cut to your desired size.
I had everything for this DIY project but if you don't you'll need:
- Wood (1/2 Inch Thick)
- Decorative Brackets (like pictured)
- Craft Dowels
- Curtain Clips
Cut the wood and dowels to your desired length, stain or paint (I stained my dowels so the paint wouldn't chip) . Attach brackets. Slide the curtain clips on the dowel and thru the brakets. There you have it. Simple and easy!
This necklace display makes it easy to see everything I have, It keeps my stuff organized and it looks super cool!
Let me know what you think...
